Oh Karma...

Altruism brings me joy. Is this a paradox?

Although I do not believe in Karma in the traditional sense; in which it "...can only be portioned out by the cosmos" (Homer, Apu Loses the Kwik-E-Mart), rather, I believe that when you put goodness out into the world via your good deeds (or, perhaps the beauty of your art or creative pursuits), you become more open to receive the goodness that comes to you. In order to create beauty, one must absorb beauty in all that she sees, to become more open and attentive to it.

So is giving for the satisfaction of the superego truly altruism?
